The 22 year old was stopped in a lay-by on the A46 on Thursday morning when a white van reversed into his vehicle
When he got out to speak to the driver he was confronted by two black men, one with a knife and forced to get into his own van, where he was tied up and blindfolded.
The van was driven off and finally dumped in the lay-by near Wolvey.
The thieves stole the contents of it and left the driver tied up in the back of it.
He managed to get out, and although not physically hurt, police say he was suffering from shock.
